    Have you found yourself incredibly distracted in a moment crucial for your success? When it comes to focus, it does not really matter how peaceful a person you are. No matter what your personality is, focusing on any work without distractions is almost an impossible mission.
    This is all quite normal, but distractions must be set to a minimum. The following 10 techniques to fight distractions have proven to be most effective:

    1. Limit the number of daily tasks

    Setting up a daily structure can help you concentrate. Having a grand number of tasks daily can never be productive because the focus abilities will be extremely spread and set to a definite minimum. No one can carry out 20 tasks every day and do them well. What you can do is place your focus on a limited number of daily objectives. 2-3 highly important daily tasks or a couple of simple ones will result in higher quality.

    2. Break down the tasks

    A large task can often seem exhaustive. The point is, every assignment has its importance and you cannot avoid it forever. In order to help yourself stay focused and willing to finish what you need, try to break it down into smaller pieces. For example, take a timer and use the Pomodoro Technique by breaking down tasks into intervals or simply set up a realistic goal with minimums and maximums of words to write per day.

    3. Your goals are your priority

    You must have, at least once, sat down to write and found yourself lacking focus, no matter what it was, your last minute essay, the first chapter of your book or your business report. Then you turned to some type of entertainment to get your mind off the worries and help yourself focus, but lost valuable time while doing this. This is what we all have done at some point and it is wrong. Knowing the importance of the things we do and what we can achieve by doing them right can certainly help us push through all the distractions.

    4. Control the distractions

    Generally, there are two types of distraction: internal and external. The first ones are something you can simply not avoid and what you must do to control them is find a way to prepare yourself to work. Good advice would  be to set yourself up with an eloquent work station within the right environment. Having a particular workplace can help your mind associate this spot with working and think towards the work.
    The second type of distraction can be more easily avoided. Work in a room where you are alone and there is no noise or a TV or phone to disturb you.

    5. Meditate to empty your mind

    As we mentioned in the previous point, external distractions can be easily avoided. But, no matter how much you want to focus, your mind will simply keep jumping from one thought to another. This is why you need to learn how to control your focus. What you should learn to do is catch the wrong thoughts before they take over. Meditation for a short period of time can help you get rid of those worries that occupy your mind.

    6. Train your brain

    Your brain is like a muscle which needs daily practices to be in a good shape. Include the technique of training it to help you overcome distractions more effectively. Memorizing, slow reading, attentive listening and more exercises may help you develop your skill of concentration.

    7. Pick the right time

    Everyone has a part of the day when they are most productive. If you work best at night, have all other tasks during the day and leave your main goal for that time. This does not mean that you are avoiding work – it simply allows you to focus on it when you are most comfortable to do so.

    8. Block those distracting apps and websites

    Having your phone beeping every half an hour cannot help you focus on your job. Do not simply turn on the sound of your phone or PC – block or hide the notifications in order to avoid visual distraction! Use tools to block online distractions and keep better focus.

    9. Keep track of your activities

    There are tasks of greater importance than others and choosing the less important ones over the more crucial can really distract you. Try using a time tracker to determine how much valuable time you spend on unnecessary things and how much of it you need for the big tasks.

    10. Do not go overboard!

    Distractions can hurt the work when not controlled, but do not forget that they are a necessary part of your creativity and productivity. Being distracted can even encourage creative thinking and prove to be a vital part to healthy living.
